An Best Book of the Month

"Vivid and charming."―CHARLAINE HARRIS, #1 New York Times bestselling author of the Sookie Stackhouse series

Injured in the line of duty,
His orders are simple
Stay alive.
But when a frightened woman bursts into his life, Hugh and his K9 companion have no choice but to risk everything to keep her safe.

The sole witness to a horrific crime, Kaylee Ramay flees to the Colorado Rockies to start a new life. There she becomes Grace, a dog kennel employee desperately trying to avoid attention-especially from dangerously attractive K9 Officer Hugh Murdoch.

Because Hugh is tall, dark...and nothing but trouble.

Hugh is anxious to get back in the field after an act of heroism left him warming the bench.
Until then, he and his K9 partner Lexi spend their hours teasing the town's mysterious newcomer. But when their simmering attraction is nearly cut short by a sniper's bullet, Hugh's mystery woman must come clean about the secrets she keeps...

Or both of them will pay the price.

On the Chase Rocky Mountain K9 Unit Katie Ruggle Books

I liked book 1 but this one really seemed to drag on. In addition, the main character is recuperating from being shot in his leg but then has to climb a tree to get to a roof of a building, drop down onto the roof, save Grace and his dog from a collapsing deck by repelling out his window and using leg and arm strength to carry his weight as well as theirs back up, breaks an arm & gets a concussion and yet still feels well enough to have sofa sex the very next day while he keeps tossing her around on his lap. Anyone think they would be up for that 24 hrs after a concussion and broken arm AND still in pain from a bullet to the leg?

It goes back and forth with Hugh being in pain to the next minute where he’s doing something that would be nearly impossible for a regular guy who is perfectly healthy. I bought all 3 up front, so I’m hoping book 3 is good but I think I’ll take a break and read something else in between

On the Chase Rocky Mountain K9 Unit Katie Ruggle Books Reviews

This is the second series I have read from this author. I love them both. Her characters are so realistic I feel like I know them. This book was so action packed I couldn't stop reading once I started and the characters so full of snark I loved them. I look forward to reading the next book in this series and hope she also continues the Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue series. Excellent writing, excellent stories.
I loved Ruggles first series; Rocky Mountain Search and Rescue. But I couldn't even finish Run To Ground, the first in this series. This one I finished but I disliked the hero so much it really made it hard to enjoy. Really I didn't like anyone in either book, except the children.
I'm not sure what my problem is, but this series seems shallow and formulaic.
I'll probably give her another chance with the next book, because I know she can write in a way that can pull me into a story. She just hasn't done that lately.
I just love Katie Ruggle's books! This second book in the K-9 series was really good. She does such a good job creating strong chemistry between the main characters and the plot is always fast-paced and full of surprises. I definitely recommend this book. It can be read as a free standing novel, but I highly recommend reading books in the series in order as there is overlap with the previous book.
I liked this book better than the first in this series and I loved that one. Earnest, thrilling, at times contradictory in feeling but such is a great story. They manage to introduce a long term series mystery while solving the plot thriller in this book, key for a good series. Katie Ruggle is excellent at pointing out no matter how crazy a situation can get there is still humor to be found. Strong characters, good plot development, excellent book.
This is the second in a three part series and it delivers just as fantastic as the first. This book is centered around k9 officer Hough who is full of witty comebacks and doesn't take himself seriously. In the first book he was the comedic sidekick. It was so much fun to see his character develop and see a little further into his brilliantly funny soul. Pairing him with an equally smart woman brings out all the best in him. Not to mention every girl likes a guy with a good sense of humor! Once again, Katie Ruggle has created an great story line with interesting character and fast paced action that keeps you up for hours long after you're supposed to go to sleep. Note to self, just go ahead and call in to work tomorrow because you won't be able to put this down.
This is the second book that i have read by Katie Ruggle, and she is good. I can’t wait for the third book coming out in Feb. Survive The Night. I really wish it was already out. I read the first 2 books so fast because they were unstoppable. I bought the audible versions, and the reader was excellent. I’ve never been one who liked to be read to, but I was so captured by the voice that I could listen to her as I did my daily exercises, and did them more intensely, and longer. I love this author now, and plan on buying her other books. Her books seem to be true realty, and not fiction. Some people ruin a book for me by their reviews, and I don’t want to ruin these books for anyone else. If you love action filled books with romance, and dogs you will love her books. Just buy one and you will be caught up in it that you will want more.
After reading the first installment in this series recently, I was eager to get to this book. Unfortunately, it didn't live up to the hype I had built up for it.

Don't get me wrong, Hugh and Grace/Kaylee were great characters...my problem was I couldn't connect to either of them! Hugh seemed to crack jokes about everything, as if he was hiding some pain and that was his method of coping. Problem was, nothing was ever said about anything like that! Grace/Kaylee I could understand, because she was on the run, but when she spilled the beans about everything...It made me wonder what the point of her going into hiding was! I loved that we got more of what was going on with Jules and Theo. This felt a bit like an extension of their story. I kept waiting for Jules to spill about what happened with her situation!

This was a decent installment in the series, but nothing spectacular.
